She's Back! ššš

I thought this would be a nice update to share with everyone. I recently had to perform an oil service on this 2018 BMW X6M. I was initially surprised that the car was already out of warranty as I helped the Owner purchase it brand new back in 2019.
He drives a lot and as such covers a ton of miles with the car. From roads trip to commuter duties, this car has pretty much done it all. What also occurred to me is that this car has had the Race Chip module in it for over a year now and has driven over 40,000 miles with the module. It has served as a long term test bed for what was a new product to me back then.
I am thrilled to not only report that the car is still running strong, it has also had no issues of concern in all that time. The owner is a spirited driver, he does not baby the car. He certainly explores the limits of performance on this car and he has thoroughly enjoyed the additional performance the RaceChip module has added to the car.
There are number of things to mention here and I am thrilled and fortunate to have access to this car as it is a truly real world experience of "Life with a RaceChip GTS Module."

I first installed the GTS Race Chip module on this car back in September of 2019. At the time, the car was still pretty new with only about 27,000 miles on it.

This car was under warranty and was receiving scheduled maintenance directly from BMW, so it was going in to the dealer for oil service and such. This is an important point to take note of. When we installed the Race Chip Module on this car, one of the concerns with modifying such a car was the impact this might have not only on the car, but also the Factory Warranty. It has happened in the past where Dealers are able to find Flash Tunes on a car and the result is often a termination of the Factory Warranty and the car gets flagged. I know of a situation where an Owner with a 2018 BMW Alpina B7 got his car flagged and warranty terminated because the Dealer found out it had a tune on it which voided the warranty.
With the Race Chip or similar modules / chips, they work as a dynamic bridge between the sensors and the DME basically getting more power and performance from the engine without overriding factory safety parameters monitored by the DME or the car's brain. Once the car is turned off, or if you unplug the module, there is no programming left behind in the DME - the car has not been altered so to speak. The module only comes on when the car is turned on and with the available, you can even run the car in stock mode and completely turn the module off if you want. When it is time for service, you can simply unplug the module and remove it from the car and drop it off for service.
This particular car covered over 40,000 miles with the module and went in multiple times to the dealer, it now has over 67,000 miles on the clock.

Going in for service at the Dealer was as simple as unplugging the module anytime it had to go in for service. What is important here is the module DOES NOT modify any of the programming in the DME.

To be fair, we did have sometimes when the Check Engine light would come on. This seemed to be an issue with the Autostart features on these newer cars.... seems the constant starting and stopping in traffic conditions would sometimes throw a hiccup in the start cycle of the RaceChip module. Important to note that each and every single time this occurred, the Check Engine light cleared itself after self diagnosis from the car's DME. Again.... there was no residual error codes or ill effects from the function of the Race Chip Module.

I know the Race Chip team and have a pretty good understanding of the product so I was not really concerned about installing it in this or any other car. However, having known this car from new and been in constant contact with the owner and now servicing the car post warranty, it is great to be able to cite an example of long term use of the Race Chip Module.

Another delightful thing if you do choose to go with Race Chip is they do offer a warranty with the GTS Modules.... so they do stand by their product.
For anyone considering this product, Race Chip will offering a Black Friday sale Special which I believe offers about $100 off the product. To support this Sale, and to offer it as a viable choice for anyone out there, we will be offering the Blue Tooth Functionality for free with every GTS Module sale as well as an additional discount of up to $100 off!
